The Shift Leader will be responsible for creating a safe work environment for the Assembly team. This position directly leads/coaches a group of salary employees as well as being responsible for approximately 80 UAW skilled trades employees in pre-production development departments. The Shift leader is responsible for establishing a relationship with Product Engineering and Central Manufacturing Engineering to support product development through early learnings to support flawless launch. The Shift leader also manages the departments work schedule, manpower, Quality performance, GMS activities, budget, and environmental goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and ability in manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing process knowledge and strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive SPQRCE business performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement GMS principles.
  • Working knowledge of all safety absolutes and policies.
  • Demonstrated excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships and lead team members to solve problems and resolve issues.
  • Elevated level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects & assignments with medium level of autonomy & high accountability for results.
  • Compliance to the local and national labor agreements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience.
  • UAW contract management.
  • Ability to work effectively in both central engineering and plant environments, including time on the plant floor around operating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe work environment for the Assembly team.
  • Directly lead/coach a group of salary employees and be responsible for approximately 80 UAW skilled trades employees in pre-production development departments.
  • Establish a relationship with Product Engineering and Central Manufacturing Engineering to support product development through early learnings to support flawless launch.
  • Manage the departments work schedule, manpower, Quality performance, GMS activities, budget, and environmental goals.
  • Comply with the terms of UAW local and national labor agreements to manage UAW skilled and non-skilled employees.
  • Implement and support GMS and Team Concepts.
  • Review incoming work and create an operating plan to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Advise on administrative procedures and resolve technical problems.
  • Assist in providing technical solutions for engineering related problems.
  • Train, develop, assign work to and evaluate subordinates.
  • Determine and coordinate work schedules and activities with related departments.
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.
  • Meet production cost schedule and maintain quality requirements.
  • Coordinate launching of new products / components.
  • Interface and support Engineering customers and their needs.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure the use of the Global Electronic Easel Board process.
