About The Position

Velvet Taco is seeking a Relentless and possibly Rebellious Shift Leader who believes teamwork is the secret ingredient to achieving greatness. This role is for someone who wants to be part of a TRIBE of people who stand together, operate with purpose, and WIN. The Shift Leader manages hourly team members and interacts with guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way. They execute opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines. This role requires skilled handling of guest concerns, guiding them toward a positive resolution, and adeptness at cash-handling, POS operations, and managing deposits. The Shift Leader presents as a leader among the team, motivating others to follow procedures, work with urgency, and ensure a positive guest experience. They are skilled at de-escalating issues between team members and supporting management with inventory. Food safety is a high priority, involving line checks, storage, and maintaining a clean environment. The Shift Leader manages the daily prep list, ensuring adherence to specifications, and acts as a role model for maintaining a safe environment by enforcing safety procedures. They communicate and deliver a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience, embrace feedback, are eager to learn, and take accountability. This role requires proficiency in a fast-paced environment and effective time management.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 2 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor in a Restaurant Environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on Restaurant needs.
  • Regularly exposed to heat and/or humid conditions.
  • Lunch and dinner rushes require constant multitasking in a fluctuating, fast-paced work environment.
  • Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Kneeling occasionally to reach low storage and refrigeration.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion, composure, and professionalism.
  • Possesses a Food Handler's Certification and is comfortable working around food.
  • Possesses an Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification and complies with all regulations.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision are required.
  • Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment.

  • You are a self-starter with a strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Hourly Team Members and interacts with Guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way.
  • Executes opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines.
  • Skilled at handling Guest concerns and guiding them toward a positive resolution.
  • Adept at cash-handling, setting up POS drawers, performing comps and voids, and managing deposits during the shift.
  • Presents self as a leader among the Team Members and one that motivates others to follow procedures, work with a sense of urgency, and ensure a positive Guest experience.
  • Skilled at de-escalating issues between Team Members, making everyone feel heard.
  • Supports Management with the inventory process.
  • Always keeps food safety a high priority during the shift by performing line checks, checking shelf storage and expiration dates for prepped food, and keeping the restaurant clean and in order.
  • Manages the daily prep list and signs off on all prepped items to ensure adherence to our specifications and flavor profiles.
  • Acts as a role model when it comes to maintaining an environment that is safe for our Team Members & Guests by enforcing the use of cut gloves, keeping floors clean and dry, and removing any obstacles that may prevent a work or dining space.
  • Communicates and delivers a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience.
  • Embraces feedback, is eager to learn, and takes accountability for their actions.
  • Proficient in a fast-paced environment and manages time effectively.
  • Is comfortable in all areas of the restaurant as it relates to culinary, hospitality, and Guest interaction.
