The Shift Lead is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Behavioral Health Technicians while supporting the daily operations of a residential treatment program. This role helps ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients, facilitates programming and educational activities, assists with staff development and scheduling, and collaborates closely with the treatment team to support positive client outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or a closely related field; OR High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of responsible employment history
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle
  • Must be at least twenty-three (23) years of age to operate a company-owned fifteen (15) passenger van
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence with an acceptable driving record required
  • Successful completion of criminal background, driving record, and abuse/neglect screenings required
  • Must obtain First Aid certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification thereafter
  • Must obtain CPR certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification thereafter
  • Must complete Behavioral Management training within thirty (30) days of employment or the first available class after start date
  • Must complete required ongoing annual and regulatory training requirements
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities and the ability to mentor, coach, and support direct care staff
  • Ability to establish rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to document within electronic medical records systems
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs as needed
  • Frequent kneeling, crouching, bending, and stooping may be required
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for writing, typing, filing, and operating office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Ability to maintain close visual focus and adjust focus as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Human Services or a related field preferred
  • For Residential Care Facility (RCF) programs, must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • For Residential Care Facility (RCF) programs: Must attain Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) and Insulin Certification within ninety (90) days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide guidance, coaching, and support to Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts
  • Foster a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that promotes client growth and recovery
  • Monitor daily client activities and communicate relevant observations and behavioral concerns to the treatment team
  • Assist with staff training, orientation, and ongoing development of Behavioral Health Technicians
  • Facilitate educational, recreational, and therapeutic groups as assigned
  • Help coordinate staffing coverage and assist with scheduling needs
  • Prepare and organize educational materials and program resources
  • Support effective crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts in collaboration with program leadership
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory and program standards
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and provide ongoing feedback
  • Perform direct care duties and support clients in meeting treatment goals
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned by program leadership
