About The Position

The Shift Lead will support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values through their words and actions, ensuring decisions align with organizational guiding principles. This role is responsible for maintaining agency, employee, and participant confidentiality, and requires punctual and dependable attendance. The Shift Lead will supervise all store personnel during their assigned shift to ensure operational standards are met, and will focus on developing, training, coaching, and supporting store associates for career growth within the organization. They must comply with agency policies, Donated Goods Retail standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the agency’s safety and security policies and procedures. Key duties include greeting and assisting donors and customers, resolving complaints, maintaining proficiency in all workstation tasks, monitoring store appearance and housekeeping, performing and assisting in all store personnel functions, and supporting the accurate and timely maintenance of company records and reports. The Shift Lead is also required to attend all meetings and training as required, be familiar with and adhere to all safety policies, programs, procedures, rules, regulations, and codes, and report any unsafe work conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED, preferred.
  • Prior retail experience or customer service/ relations experience preferred.
  • 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills, bilingual a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to adapt to growth and a changing environment within the Agency.
  • Ability to complete and maintain: CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Reliable transportation and communication required.
  • Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations.
  • Work schedule includes days, evenings, holidays and blackout periods, weekends are required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all store personnel as applicable during assigned shift to ensure operational standards are met.
  • Develop, train, coach, and support store associates for career growth within the organization.
  • Greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Assist and resolve any complaints and communicate complaints and issues to the management team.
  • Maintain proficiency for tasks required in all workstations.
  • Monitor and maintain overall store appearance and housekeeping to agency standards.
  • Perform and assist in all functions completed by store personnel.
  • Support in maintaining all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Attend all meetings and training as required by the agency.
  • Review and be familiar with Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area safety policies, programs and procedures and adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes.
  • Attend safety training and meetings and report any unsafe work conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
