About The Position

Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering families, individuals, and veterans experiencing poverty and homelessness since 2014. Our mission is to address the root causes of poverty by providing personalized, comprehensive plans for clients to achieve self-sufficiency and contribute to the community. We believe in the inherent worth and value of every individual, fostering change through respect, dignity, and empowerment. This Shift Lead position is a full-time role focused on the day shift (7 am - 3 pm). The Shift Lead is responsible for both direct client support as a behavior technician and supervising the shift. Key duties include creating weekly schedules, ensuring adequate shift coverage, and filling in for absent staff. The role emphasizes fostering a positive team workflow that adheres to policies and procedures, supports residents, and maintains open communication with the Program Director. The Shift Lead also collaborates with other staff to ensure smooth operations and a harmonious environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with clients who struggle with mental health.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
  • Exhibits a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting.
  • Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Ability to wear multiple hats within a small nonprofit organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Docs.
  • Possesses valid Utah State Driver’s License.
  • May be required to lift 50lbs periodically as needed.
  • Familiarized with the policies and procedures of both Canyon Rim and Switchpoint as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement Switchpoint’s mission and values, and adhere to the Staff Code of Conduct and policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all residents of the facility.
  • Keep a daily log of occurrences within the facility on each shift.
  • Make notes of any special requirements and needs that guests may have (Special diets, ADA accommodations, etc.) and coordinate with management to facilitate those needs.
  • Update maintenance log with resident requests and get maintenance log to maintenance staff.
  • Actively listen to the needs of the residents and act to meet those needs reasonably and appropriately.
  • Reconcile and report any monetary funds, petty cash and other expenditures daily.
  • Report any resident concerns to the Director/Manager and/or appropriate department leadership team.
  • Demonstrate a passion for customer service as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, and members of the community.
  • Perform laundry duties (Bedding when soiled or when guests check out).
  • Perform simple cleaning tasks (Public bathroom, sweeping, mopping, etc).
  • Monitor cameras and log activity.
  • Complete perimeter checks around buildings and walk-throughs in buildings to ensure safety and security of residents. Log or document any concerns.
  • Handle security issues/complaints by calling either non-emergency dispatch or 911 for emergency services.
  • Create a weekly schedule for yourself and your team ensuring both Part-time and Full-time employees are getting the required hours.
  • Minimize overtime as much as possible.
  • Assign daily job tasks to yourself and your team as needed.
  • Ensure high quality notes and staff conduct.
  • Communicate often and consistently with the Program Director.
  • Take ownership of your shift and create a positive workflow.
  • Cultivate Switchpoint Culture and Values on your shift.
  • Work cooperatively with other shifts.
  • Cover gaps in your shifts as needed.
  • Assist employees in finding coverage if they are unable to make their shifts.
  • Hold your team accountable to the rules of the facility.
