About The Position

The Shift Lead supports the store management team by providing daily floor leadership, operational oversight, employee coaching, and sales support. This position serves as a liaison between budtenders and management and helps ensure that store operations are efficient, compliant, organized, and aligned with 14er’s service standards, company culture, and business objectives. The Shift Lead is responsible for guiding and developing retail staff, assisting with the training of new hires, maintaining expert cannabis and product knowledge, and supporting the implementation of store promotions, policies, procedures, and operational changes. During supervisory shifts, the Shift Lead is accountable for sales-floor operations, employee performance, customer service, cash handling, inventory accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Expertise in cannabis types, common strains, consumption methods, terpenes, infusion methods, product formats, and general effects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current, new, emerging, and potential products carried by the company.
  • Ability to educate employees and customers on cannabis products, responsible consumption methods, general effects, and relevant industry resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and local regulations for cannabis transactions, product handling, and sales-floor practices.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale operations, including till drawers, transaction accuracy, cash handling, and safe drops.
  • Experience with daily deposits and Metrc uploads.
  • Ability to verify transaction accuracy for cash and inventory control.
  • Skills in identifying, investigating, and reporting discrepancies in cash, transactions, POS, or METRC.
  • Ability to ensure products are stocked, organized, labeled, and displayed according to company and compliance standards.
  • Capability to monitor and maintain point-of-purchase materials and promotional displays.
  • Experience in implementing new promotions, merchandising updates, product launches, and sales-floor procedures.
  • Ability to ensure sales stations are stocked, clean, functional, and prepared for customer service.
  • Experience performing and completing cannabis sales in accordance with state regulations, local requirements, and company policies.
  • Proficiency in accurately entering and ringing products to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to provide exceptional, professional, and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Capability to provide customers with product education and direct them to appropriate industry resources.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily workflow, assign duties, and ensure all opening, closing, and shift responsibilities are completed.
  • Perform opening and closing duties in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and management expectations.
  • Serve as an intermediary between budtenders and management by answering questions, escalating concerns, and ensuring consistent communication.
  • Perform additional cleaning, operational, and store-support duties as assigned.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of cannabis types, common strains, consumption methods, terpenes, infusion methods, product formats, and general effects.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current, new, emerging, and potential products carried by the company.
