Under supervision of the department manager or supervisor, operate mobile equipment to perform functions for which equipment is designed, plant wide. Load, transport, stockpile, and maintain raw materials and coal as required for production of cement. Maintain ECS (Elaborate) Strip overburden to facilitate drilling and removal of raw material. Level and maintain haul roads and stockpiles. Hauling trash, dust and other materials. Operate equipment in construction or repair of plant facilities. Will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of assigned areas, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios. Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials. Ensure quality of work performed, participate in continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure. Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • Two years’ heavy-equipment operator experience.
  • Task training required for each type of equipment operated.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or background.
  • Ability to perform daily inspection and servicing.
  • Familiarity with area and conditions in which equipment will be operated.
  • Thorough knowledge of operating limitations of equipment, (i.e., weight, speed, braking capabilities).
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.
