About The Position

Pier Sixty-Six Resort is seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join our facility maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the physical integrity, operational safety, and high presentation standards of our luxury resort, marina, and supporting facilities. Operating on a scheduled shift basis, the Shift Engineer acts as the primary technical contact during assigned hours, monitoring central plant systems, conducting routine preventative maintenance, and rapidly resolving guestroom and public space work orders to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

Requirements

  • At least 2 to 4 years of commercial facility or luxury hospitality engineering experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and basic carpentry or drywall repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina to navigate a large property.
  • A collaborative, customer-first service mindset are essential.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, and overnight coverage as operational needs dictate is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in luxury hotel or resort engineering maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Active driving license

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical certifications such as EPA Universal, CPO, or trade licenses preferred.
  • Certification in a technical trade.
  • Experience in luxury hotel settings.
  • Multilingual abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on diagnostic, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and HVAC systems.
  • Complete guest room maintenance requests via internal dispatch systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) inspections.
  • Log utility readings.
  • Inspect key physical plant equipment.
  • Oversee emergency response protocols for engineering issues during your shift (including water leaks, power interruptions, and basic life-safety systems), ensuring minimal disruption to resort operations and strict compliance with local codes and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Promptly respond to all guest repair requests and communicate effectively to resolve issues.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company and departmental standards, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring all are in top working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and execute basic to mid-level repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems including pumps, motors, and HVAC units.
  • Handle maintenance of electrical systems including replacing switches, outlets, and setting up devices like TVs.
  • Use lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety during maintenance.
  • Operate, locate, and manage all shut-off valves for equipment and building facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including mechanical rooms and any areas affected by maintenance work.
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition parts as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication across shifts regarding daily activities and any problems using approved programs and standards.
  • Visually inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Display proficiency in engineering software related to preventive maintenance and energy management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the engineering spaces such as the mechanical rooms and workshops.
  • Work with outside contractors to facilitate repairs and improvements beyond routine maintenance.
  • Monitor and adjust the performance of the building management systems to ensure efficiency and comfort.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and follow established procedures to minimize risks and damage.
  • Remain adaptable, taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support the department and the hotel's operational needs.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the engineering senior staff.
  • Able to drive a Golf Cart safely
