About The Position

Sheriff’s Property and Evidence Specialists II are assigned to the Sheriff’s Property and Evidence Unit. This position is responsible for specialized duties related to collection, preservation, secure storage, lawful disposal, and custody chain maintenance of property and physical evidence acquired by the Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the drive to excel, communicate effectively, be a knowledge worker, customer focused, value and respect others, participate in teamwork and collaboration, be a continuous learner, demonstrate ethical behavior and be supportive of change.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience as a Sheriff's Property and Evidence Specialist I with the County of San Diego OR Eighteen (18) months of experience receiving, storing, releasing, and disposing of property and evidence in a law enforcement agency
  • A valid California Class C driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class, is required at time of appointment, or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation for field travel.
  • Employees may be required to use their own vehicle.
  • Background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment.
  • Reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.
  • Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation which may include a truth verification or other examination or test.
