About The Position
Make a Difference Every Evening Second Shift Shelter Staff Youth Emergency Shelter | Manchester, NH Full-Time (32-40 Hours per Week) Schedule: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM Saturday-Wednesday Starting Pay: $21.00/hour + Shift Differential Do you believe every young person deserves a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, and someone who genuinely cares? Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication
- Ability to stand, walk stairs, and remain active throughout the shift
- Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
- Willingness to perform light housekeeping and facility upkeep duties
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment supporting youth in crisis
Nice To Haves
- Additional education in social work, human services, youth development, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with youth, especially those experiencing homelessness, trauma, or crisis, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and de-escalation practices is a plus
Responsibilities
- Welcome youth into the shelter and conduct intakes for new participants
- Support young people with immediate needs including meals, hygiene supplies, and community resources
- Build positive, trusting relationships while using trauma-informed and youth-centered approaches
- Conduct safety checks and maintain a safe, respectful shelter environment
- Respond to crises with compassion, professionalism, and effective de-escalation techniques
- Coordinate shelter operations, maintain documentation, and communicate important updates with team members
- Help youth develop life skills, accountability, independence, and confidence
- Foster an inclusive environment where every young person feels respected, supported, and heard
