About The Position

Make a Difference Every Evening Second Shift Shelter Staff Youth Emergency Shelter | Manchester, NH Full-Time (32-40 Hours per Week) Schedule: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM Saturday-Wednesday Starting Pay: $21.00/hour + Shift Differential Do you believe every young person deserves a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, and someone who genuinely cares? Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication
  • Ability to stand, walk stairs, and remain active throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to perform light housekeeping and facility upkeep duties
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment supporting youth in crisis

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education in social work, human services, youth development, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with youth, especially those experiencing homelessness, trauma, or crisis, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and de-escalation practices is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Welcome youth into the shelter and conduct intakes for new participants
  • Support young people with immediate needs including meals, hygiene supplies, and community resources
  • Build positive, trusting relationships while using trauma-informed and youth-centered approaches
  • Conduct safety checks and maintain a safe, respectful shelter environment
  • Respond to crises with compassion, professionalism, and effective de-escalation techniques
  • Coordinate shelter operations, maintain documentation, and communicate important updates with team members
  • Help youth develop life skills, accountability, independence, and confidence
  • Foster an inclusive environment where every young person feels respected, supported, and heard
