Shelter Staff (On-Call)
About The Position
Are you passionate about creating safe, supportive environments for those in need? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Shelter Staff on an on-call basis. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the well-being of shelter residents, overseeing daily operations, and providing a stable, welcoming space for both clients and volunteers. As Shelter Staff, your primary duties include monitoring the facility, supporting clients through crisis intervention, and employing trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques. You'll help maintain cleanliness and organization within the shelter, assist with meal setups, and communicate critical information to leadership for effective follow-up. This position offers valuable ongoing training to enhance your skills and grow within the role.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
- Experience working with homeless populations
- Ability to handle dynamic, sometimes challenging environments with compassion and professionalism
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication abilities
- Physical capacity to perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Consistent overnight availability preferred
