The Shelter Monitor is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents in the shelter/center, ensuring compliance with program rules and expectations. This role also ensures the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. The Shelter Monitor will oversee and take necessary actions consistent with organizational policies, program guidelines, and professional judgment to fulfill assigned responsibilities. The position aims to provide a safe, structured environment that meets client needs while maintaining professional boundaries. It involves fostering positive relationships with clients and management, documenting events and incidents accurately, consulting with supervisors on resident needs and behavior, and utilizing positive behavioral management techniques. The role requires monitoring shelter areas for rule compliance, maintaining high standards of sanitation, responding to resident requests, addressing procedural violations, assisting with resident intake and orientation, and briefing volunteers or other staff. Regular inspections, identifying and responding to resident issues or crises, and teaching good personal hygiene skills are also key components. The position emphasizes exceptional customer service by prioritizing the client's needs to support the mission of empowering people to build better lives.
