POSITION SUMMARY The Northside Common Ministries Shelter Coordinator assists the Director in managing daily operations of the Pleasant Valley Men’s Shelter and is responsible for oversight of the services provided to shelter participants and visitors. This role supervises the shelter team and is expected to identify and implement methods to strategically align services for enhanced client outcomes while providing and inspiring innovative ideas and solutions to improve services. It is vital for the Shelter Coordinator to draw upon research and data to meet emerging needs and collaborate with other Goodwill departments and/or community organizations to ensure appropriate community reintegration services are delivered. This position is included in the on-call rotation for shelter emergencies, and may be expected to provide hands-on support in the food pantry as needed. The schedule is Tuesday - Saturday with consistent 2 evening shifts per week to ensure collaboration and intersection with all members of the shelter team (subject to change based on operational needs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 year experience in homeless services required.
  • Associate degree and 4 years' experience in homeless services required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years' experience in homeless services
  • Experience must be related to working with individuals residing in a shelter and/or receiving homeless services.
  • Knowledge of managing case loads and social service delivery models
  • Candidates are expected to provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) upon hire.

  • Experience in community services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, train and evaluate the work of program staff; hiring for vacancies and addressing conflicts as needed.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, provide performance feedback, and facilitate professional development & training opportunities to enhance team competencies
  • Adhere to accounting and financial records keeping, including timely submission of reports, reimbursement requests, and review of financial statements, logs, ledgers, and payroll.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (participants, employers, funders, fellow Goodwill employees and departments, etc.) to ensure quality service delivery and successful outcomes, including attendance at meetings, trainings, etc. as needed
  • Ensure the program(s) adhere to all guidelines and requirements to maintain applicable credentials, certifications, compliance, etc.
  • Assess and support the development and implementation of appropriate wrap-around services including but not limited to case management, workforce development, education and training, wellness, and other related family supportive services that result in participants’ successful transition.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the 24-hour shelter, ensuring proper staffing coverage during all shifts and any potential risk is reported and mitigated.
