Sheetmetal - Entry Level and Skilled
About The Position
Electric Boat is hiring entry-level and skilled Sheetmetal workers to build advanced submarines. The position involves interpreting construction drawings and completing assignments using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, shipyard procedures, and shop machinery. Work includes laying out, fabricating, assembling, and installing light-gauge metalwork such as air-conditioning ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors, furniture, and Formica. Employees also perform joiner work and fabricate nonstructural bulkhead doors and stainless-steel trim. Work may involve restricted or confined spaces. The position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or at least 2 years of related technical experience.
- Availability to work all shifts.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions as required.
- Must possess basic hand tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet organizational goals.
Nice To Haves
- Sheetmetal or metal fabrication experience and/or relevant training.
- Experience in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment.
- Education or training through vocational, technical, or community colleges, or an apprentice program.
- Military or Navy experience.
- Automotive, auto body, or HVAC experience.
Responsibilities
- Interpret construction drawings using basic mathematics.
- Complete assignments using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, shipyard procedures, and shop machinery.
