About The Position

Electric Boat is seeking experienced Sheetmetal Workers to join their growing team in designing and building nuclear-powered submarines for the US Navy. The role involves interpreting construction drawings, performing basic mathematics, and executing tasks such as layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of light gage metalwork. This includes air-conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors, and furniture. Work will be performed using company drawings, technical manuals, shipyard procedures, and shop machinery. Some assignments may require working in restricted or confined spaces.

Requirements

High School diploma/GED or 2+ years of relevant technical experience
5+ years of relevant sheetmetal fabrication experience
Must be able to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat
Willing to accept road job assignments
Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance

Nice To Haves

Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
Previous metal fabrication experience
Military shipbuilding, Manufacturing, and Automotive industry experience

Responsibilities

Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematic ability.
Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of all light gage metalwork.
Fabricate and install air-conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors, and furniture.
Work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, shipyard procedures and shop machinery.
Work in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat.
Accept road job assignments.
