About The Position

The Sheetmetal Journeyman fabricates sheet metal parts and welded assemblies from drawings, layouts, and sketches. The role involves planning and laying out work, selecting materials and metal gauges, and forming sheet or structural materials to close tolerances. The employee sets up and operates a range of metalworking machinery, makes complex machine setups, adjusts strokes and safety devices, and checks equipment for proper operation. The position is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Compensation is $31.59 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential. A benefits package is included. The workplace is smoke-free and drug-free.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Certified Sheet Metal Journeyman.
Knowledge of hand-working procedures used in fabricating sheet metal parts.
Knowledge of stick, MIG, TIG, and spot welding procedures.
Ability to follow bills of operations and respective instructions.
Ability to use materials economically.
Ability to use hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and forming tools.

Responsibilities

Work from drawings, layouts, and sketches.
Plan and lay out work and determine and select materials and metal gauges.
Lay out sheet or structural materials to close tolerances to achieve the desired length or form.
Set up and operate metalworking equipment, including mechanical shears, CNC press brakes, CNC hydraulic saws, CNC dual-head saws, CNC punch presses, power rolling equipment, and other fabrication machinery.
Make complex setups of special machines, adjust strokes and safety devices, and check equipment for proper operation.
Detect faulty materials, call attention to excessive or recurring defects, and notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
