About The Position

As a Sheetfed Press Assistant, you assist the Pressman with the setup, operation, and maintenance of a four-color press used to produce printed materials. The role requires learning how to operate a press and using troubleshooting skills and general mechanical knowledge. Work is located in Marceline, Missouri, and is hourly production work on the first, day shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Communicate clearly with coworkers and management.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to perform simple math, differentiate colors, and read.
• Must learn how to operate a press.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and general mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods.
• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or operate controls, tools, or equipment.
• May need to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
• May require close vision and concentrated work for extended periods.
• May need to lift, carry, or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
• May be required to work beyond standard business hours.

Responsibilities

• Hang and position plates to secure correct registration between colors.
• Fill the water fountain with the proper chemical mixture.
• Adjust feeder guides, grippers, and pile height to ensure proper paper delivery.
• Correct machine malfunctions, including misfeeds, misregister, and paper jams.
• Pack plates and blankets where needed to secure proper pressures.
• Follow instructions on job tickets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
