The Sheeter Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run. This role also involves maintaining procedures, ensuring product quality, maintaining equipment, and contributing to a clean and efficient work environment. The operator may occasionally be asked to perform different jobs or be temporarily placed in different departments based on production needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software.
Mechanical ability and skills.
Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.
Must become a Certified Fork Lift operator to include the clamp truck in accordance with SCT training and carry a copy of your certification with you.
Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements.
Availability for overtime work if necessary.

Nice To Haves

Ability to push the rolls that are on an assist to the roll stand.
Rolls weigh up to 6000 lbs.; average roll weighs 3000 to 4000 lbs.

Responsibilities

Safely set up and operate the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.
Set up and operate the machines in a consistent manner.
Maintain the procedures with regard to the operation.
Read a scale and determine proper knife setting, sets knife blades.
Thread paper from roll stand around inside rollers to the knives.
Push the rolls that are on an assist to the roll stand.
Be responsible for the quality of the product manufactured with regard to sheeting, printing, and sheet measurement, all sheet length must be accurate.
Ensure the slitting measurement is very true.
Adjust tension gauges to prevent board curl, ensure trim is flowing into the blower.
Ensure pallets are properly banded, marked for identification, checked off, and entered in the production system.
Vacuum under the sheeter and use air hose to blow dust from the machine.
Assure guards and platforms are in place.
Be responsible for all equipment and tools assigned to the machine, and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
Analyze and correct production problems as they occur.
Assist in handling and stacking.
Mount rolls by rolling them between the two arbors of the roll stand.
Move pallets of sheets to the aerator.
Follow all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set up and operation.
Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and assist in repair of machine malfunctions; perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with the 5S system.
Effectively utilize any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor.
Occasionally perform a different job, or be temporarily placed in a different department based on production needs.
Lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the cutting operation efficiently.
Respond to oral instructions from his/her supervisor and other written instructions.
