About The Position

This role will work in the Sheet Metal dept at the Jefferson Street plant. The position requires the ability to read blueprints and cut lists and make all of the setups on the machine. The operator must be conscious of quality at all times, always checking for accuracy of cut size or bend. Must be able to competently run most of the machines in the department.

• Ability to use small hand tools in a safe manner
• Ability to read measurement devices accurately
• Take ownership and be champion of the primary machine
• Be reliable, cooperative, self-motivated and self-disciplined
• Ability to lift 50-75lbs., plus on a continual basis
• Ability to push and pull carts
• Ability to use repetitive motions
• Ability to reach overhead and/or above shoulder height frequently
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to be on time and at work on a daily basis
• Basic math skills
• Ability to use a calculator
• Ability to use basic measuring tools

Responsibilities

• Become proficient on all equipment in the sheet metal department
• Make setups on assigned machines according to blueprints
• Be conscious of quality at all times—always checking shear size BEFORE starting a run, checking the first run piece and every 10 pieces with proper print for proper part
• Do preventative measurement/bend checks before starting run
• Train others to perform the job
• Communicate well with other departments and supervision
• Perform all other duties as assigned
