About The Position

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking experienced Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanics to join their field teams throughout the DMV region. This position is responsible for installing commercial ductwork, air-distribution systems, and related sheet metal components on new construction and renovation projects. Sheet Metal Mechanics work closely with foremen and other field professionals to complete installations safely, accurately, and on schedule. The ideal candidate has hands-on commercial ductwork experience, can confidently interpret mechanical drawings, and takes pride in delivering quality craftsmanship. VMG supports a diverse portfolio of commercial projects including multifamily, universities, healthcare, office buildings, and hospitality.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial HVAC sheet metal experience
  • Hands-on experience installing ductwork in commercial buildings
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Experience with duct layout, sheet metal installation, and mechanical construction
  • Knowledge of sheet metal materials, installation methods, and equipment
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and lifts
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field crew
  • Dependability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to travel to active project sites throughout the DMV region

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Install commercial HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems
  • Lay out air-distribution systems according to approved drawings and specifications
  • Install dampers, fittings, hangers, supports, and related HVAC components
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and modify sheet metal materials
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications
  • Coordinate installation activities with foremen, field crews, and other trades
  • Communicate material needs, field conflicts, and installation concerns promptly
  • Operate lifts, hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment safely
  • Inspect completed work for proper fit, alignment, and quality
  • Follow company safety policies and applicable jobsite requirements
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Work efficiently with the field team to meet project schedules and production goals
