About The Position

This role involves leading a team in aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. The individual will supervise subordinate mechanics, provide technical guidance, and perform complex repairs and modifications on aircraft structures, components, and engines. This includes troubleshooting malfunctions by interpreting technical data like blueprints and manufacturer manuals, and ensuring adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and sheet metal/structural modification and repair. A detailed knowledge of aircraft-specific tools and the ability to provide technical support to engineers and customers are essential. The role also involves making entries in aircraft logs and records and guiding lower-level technicians.

Requirements

  • 8 years current or previous experience performing complex helicopter mechanical work.
  • Experience removing fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft and disassembling structural and non-structural metal and composite components.
  • Experience assessing damaged parts to determine the sequence of operations necessary to affect repairs or replacements.
  • Experience repairing structural parts and skin surfaces of fuselages, tail sections, doors, pilot seats, tail cones, engine cowls, and fairings by straightening, reforming, or reshaping bent, twisted, or distorted portions with press brakes, bending rolls, shrinking and stretching machines, or forming blocks.
  • Experience cutting out or otherwise removing damaged parts and inserting new parts or patches.
  • Experience modifying aircraft and aircraft components by incorporating airframe changes (AFC), bulletins, etc.
  • Experience laying out, cutting, drilling, bending, forming, and shaping sheet metal and extruded metal stock.
  • Skill in the use of a wide variety of complicated hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, associated with the trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, etc.
  • Individual (I) Aircraft Maintenance Qualification.
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Weekend shift as required.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule Mon-Fri, Sun-Thur and Fri-Mon as required.
  • Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and basic supply procedures.
  • Experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensuring adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
  • Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
  • Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems.
  • Ability to perform general Organizational, Intermediate and Depot Level maintenance.
  • Satisfactory completion of T3/T3R National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance shall be required of employees assigned to perform: Maintaining MH-60S Avionics Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance.
  • Supervises subordinate mechanics and provides technical guidance on maintenance operations.
  • Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines.
  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
  • Interprets technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals to solve complex problems.
  • Performs aircraft Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot Level maintenance.
  • Provides scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned MH-60s aircraft.
  • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/depreservation services.
  • Manages Maintenance Control planning.
  • Documents aircraft maintenance actions via logs, records, forms, and electronic means.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications.
  • Performs confined space operations to include fuel cell entry.
  • Operates and inspects Support Equipment (SE).
  • Performs aircraft inspections.
  • Manages aircraft movement.
  • Provides support services.
  • Performs corrosion control.
  • Performs preservation and depreservation.
  • Performs general aircraft maintenance.
  • Ensures Technical Directive compliance and modifications.
  • Maintains Aircraft, Engines, and SE Logbooks.
  • Performs general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment.
  • Performs shift work and/or overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
