About The Position

Russell Hendrix Foodservice Equipment is looking for a Sheet Metal Mechanic (TIG Welder) to join our Quest manufacturing team in Winnipeg. Quest is our in-house manufacturing division, producing custom stainless-steel fabrications and gas appliances and the Sheet Metal Mechanic is at the core of bringing those products to life. This is a role for an experienced TIG welder who takes pride in precision, quality, and craftsmanship, and who is ready to bring their skills to a team that shares those same standards. Requirements

  • Completion of a Welding diploma program
  • 2+ years of TIG welding experience on light gauge stainless steel, required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of layout, fabrication, and welding techniques
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and bending
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and personal pride in the quality and finish of completed work
  • Excellent understanding of safety practices and procedures in a fabricating environment
  • Clear and effective communicator, comfortable working with teammates, supervision, and design staff
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work independently as required
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50–60 pounds
  • Must provide own hand tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical is considered an asset
  • Experience with gas appliance fabrication is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products
  • Measure, mark dimensions, and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators, and squares
  • Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
  • Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts, and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last
  • Install assemblies including tables, sinks, appliances, hoods, and other stainless fixtures
  • Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file, and grind metal surfaces and joints of assembled parts to ensure safety and a seamless appearance
  • Ensure safety is a priority during all activities, including using tools and fabricating and installing metal
  • Perform other related duties as required
