About The Position

Russell Hendrix Foodservice Equipment is looking for a Sheet Metal Mechanic (TIG Welder) to join our Quest manufacturing team in Winnipeg. Quest is our in-house manufacturing division, producing custom stainless-steel fabrications and gas appliances and the Sheet Metal Mechanic is at the core of bringing those products to life. This is a role for an experienced TIG welder who takes pride in precision, quality, and craftsmanship, and who is ready to bring their skills to a team that shares those same standards. Requirements

Completion of a Welding diploma program
2+ years of TIG welding experience on light gauge stainless steel, required
Demonstrated knowledge of layout, fabrication, and welding techniques
Experience with sheet metal fabrication, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and bending
Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints and specifications
Strong attention to detail and personal pride in the quality and finish of completed work
Excellent understanding of safety practices and procedures in a fabricating environment
Clear and effective communicator, comfortable working with teammates, supervision, and design staff
Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work independently as required
Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move items weighing 50–60 pounds
Must provide own hand tools

Nice To Haves

Experience with carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical is considered an asset
Experience with gas appliance fabrication is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products
Measure, mark dimensions, and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators, and squares
Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts, and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last
Install assemblies including tables, sinks, appliances, hoods, and other stainless fixtures
Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file, and grind metal surfaces and joints of assembled parts to ensure safety and a seamless appearance
Ensure safety is a priority during all activities, including using tools and fabricating and installing metal
Perform other related duties as required
