About The Position

As a Sheet Metal Installer III, you'll serve as a senior-level expert in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing complex sheet metal ductwork and HVAC systems on commercial projects, applying mastery-level knowledge of dry-side applications to handle advanced installations, equipment startups, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision. Lead by example on the jobsite, mentor junior installers, and ensure high-quality, code-compliant results that contribute to safer, more efficient, and sustainable commercial facilities nationwide. Requirements

  • 5+ years in commercial sheet metal/HVAC installation and fabrication
  • Mastery-level knowledge of dry-side applications, design, and complex systems
  • Proven ability to handle advanced tasks with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current journeyman sheet metal license (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use hand/power tools for extended periods
  • Frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required
  • Advanced sheet metal fabrication/installation techniques, SMACNA standards mastery, complex duct layout and modification
  • Equipment startup, system balancing, functional testing, and troubleshooting
  • Blueprint reading, field measurement, and conflict resolution
  • Leadership/mentoring, effective communication with crews, customers, management, and inspectors
  • Safety leadership (OSHA 30-hour preferred), documentation/reporting, multitasking, and follow-through

Responsibilities

  • Independently fabricate, assemble, install, and repair advanced sheet metal ductwork, fittings, dampers, access doors, and specialty components per blueprints, specifications, and SMACNA standards.
  • Perform layout, field measurements, complex modifications, and precise sealing/hanging to achieve optimal airflow and system performance.
  • Conduct equipment startups, functional testing, system balancing, and final checkouts; troubleshoot and resolve complex issues on-site.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, shop drawings, and as-built plans to coordinate installations and resolve field conflicts.
  • Lead small crews or act as lead installer on projects, providing coaching, mentoring, and direction to Level I and II installers.
  • Document work thoroughly, including startup reports, test data, material logs, and compliance paperwork for handover and warranty purposes.
  • Uphold and promote the highest safety standards through daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, mentoring on safe practices, and strict adherence to OSHA requirements and PPE usage.
