Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience operating hydraulic shears (Shear or similar preferred).
  • Ability to read blueprints, cut-lists and understand tolerances.
  • Strong measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of metal fabrication processes.
  • Physical ability to lift sheet metal and stand for extended periods.
  • Safety-focused mindset with knowledge of shop PPE and procedures.
  • Basic computer or CNC interface skills for entering cut dimensions.
  • Teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AccurPress equipment (shears, brakes, or CNC controls).
  • Knowledge of material types such as mild steel, stainless, and aluminum.
  • Forklift or crane certification.
  • Background in manufacturing or metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hydraulic Shear and Giga Bend equipment to cut and bend sheet metal to required dimensions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measurement specifications.
  • Set machine parameters including blade gap, backgauge position, rake angle, and material hold-downs.
  • Inspect raw materials for defects, thickness, and grade before cutting.
  • Perform quality checks using calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
  • Handle and stage sheet metal safely using carts, lifts, or overhead cranes.
  • Maintain clean work area and follow all safety protocols.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as lubrication, blade inspection, and reporting issues.
  • Track production output and complete required documentation.
  • Collaborate with fabrication team to meet production goals and resolve material issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, and SHOP-TRAK.
