About The Position

McCormick is seeking a SHE Manager for its Gretna, LA plant. This role is responsible for providing leadership for Safety, Health, and Safety Training Programs, setting an example within a High-Performance Work System (HPWS) environment. The position is dedicated to ensuring safe practices, achieving injury reduction, implementing proactive safety processes, increasing safety awareness, and developing and maintaining robust safety training programs.

Requirements

  • BSc in Occupational safety and health, Industrial Hygiene or Engineering
  • 5+ years safety experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and State safety regulations required.
  • In-depth understanding of how own area integrates with other areas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Basic understanding of the industry sector in which they are operating and the impact to own function.
  • Chemical sampling- Techniques, methods and instrumentation
  • Radiation analysis- Measurement instrumentation.
  • Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange complicated information, including sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Interactions include Plant Leadership Team, Divisional Safety Manager, and all employees in the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical resource for the facility, ensuring safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes, regulatory compliance, and risk management for liability, Workers’ Compensation, and property claims.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements, application of McCormick Health and Safety policies and procedures, comprehensive case management, analysis of safety incidents and behaviors, and establishment of best practices for the plant/facility. Maintain safety and organizational health scorecard reporting.
  • Oversee and audit all plant safety training activities, including monthly department and business unit safety audits. Develop meaningful safety measures for plant scorecard to drive performance improvements. Communicate and translate organizational safety objectives and practices into actionable solutions.
  • Lead the resolution of Worker’s Compensation issues with an emphasis on implementing cost control measures and proper case management.
  • Develop, implement, and refine Divisional injury prevention processes for continuous improvement in injury frequency, compliance issues, and worker’s compensation.
  • Lead and develop safety committee members and (if applicable) Safety ELR Technicians. Validate the performance for the Safety Committee and all Injury/Incident review boards, leading action plans and root cause analysis.
