About The Position

Join Roche Diagnostics' dynamic Carlsbad and San Diego operations as an experienced SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) leader ready to make a meaningful impact. In this strategic leadership role, you'll direct comprehensive safety, health, and environmental initiatives across our thriving 24/6 manufacturing and R&D facilities, building a culture of proactive protection that safeguards our people, environment, and business continuity. Reporting to the Director of Sites, SHE, & Security, you'll lead a dedicated SHE team and collaborate cross-functionally to embed best practices throughout the organization—transforming strategic vision into operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and/or Engineering-related field
  • 8+ years in a similar SHE leadership role with demonstrated technical expertise and people leadership experience.
  • Extensive project management, organizational change management, and experience working in matrix and multi-cultural environments.
  • Substantial experience working with diverse senior leaders and ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
  • Regular travel between local sites required; occasional travel to US and International locations necessary.

  • Professional certifications such as CIH, CSP, CBSP, or REM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day and long-term strategic SHE operations at a 24/6 manufacturing and Research & Development business, while leading a team of SHE professionals to protect employees, environment, property, and business continuity.
  • Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive SHE management system aligned with Roche corporate directives and all local, regional, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and drive business goals that promote a proactive SHE culture tailored to local needs while meeting Roche SHE objectives.
  • Drive continual improvement within the SHE team to develop internal capabilities and capacities through individual growth, team development, and process optimization.
  • Monitor, document, and report SHE KPIs, trends, and implementation progress while ensuring risk management and assessment guide continual improvement in site performance.
  • Lead or participate in investigations into critical incidents affecting the company, including injuries, environmental releases, and security events, and provide site leadership during SHE inspections and audits.
  • Manage financial provisions for the SHE department and establish/maintain relationships with local SHE authorities, professional organizations, and regulatory bodies.
