About The Position

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. is seeking a SharePoint Administrator to serve as the subject matter expert for all things SharePoint. This fully remote position is responsible for the overall administration and management of each SharePoint farm, monitoring the environment, and taking corrective actions to ensure peak functionality and performance. The role also involves responsibility for the security, integrity, and recoverability of data, and collaborating with other groups to ensure fault and disaster tolerance. The administrator will automate repetitive tasks, install, configure, and maintain SharePoint farms and various service applications, and maintain the servers comprising each farm. This includes applying monthly SharePoint Cumulative Updates (CUs), responding to help desk issues, monitoring logs, and investigating/resolving issues. Performance monitoring, assisting business owners with testing new features, deploying new features to production, and managing the development team's backlog for bugs and enhancements are also key responsibilities. The role requires addressing business owner questions about SharePoint functionality, automating tasks with scripting technologies like PowerShell, and staying updated on system updates to communicate them to business owners. Collaboration with DBAs for data integrity and backups, with the Infrastructure team for fault and disaster tolerance, and with the Development team for custom functionality are essential. Working with third-party vendors for issue resolution and new functionality implementation, and assisting other administrators with enterprise applications are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in SharePoint environments.
  • Expert knowledge of SharePoint 2013/2016, including its various components.
  • Expert knowledge of using scripting technologies such as PowerShell to automate tasks and monitor the system.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft365 concepts and components.
  • Expert understanding of how SharePoint can be leveraged to meet business needs.
  • Expert knowledge of web-based technologies such as IIS, ASP.NET, HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint Online.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint’s Client-Side Object Model (CSOM).
  • Familiarity with SQL Server database maintenance, including query execution using T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with the Windows Server operating system.
  • Familiarity with one or more third party products that integrate with SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with load balancing and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Must provide minimum authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all things SharePoint.
  • Responsible for the overall administration and management of each SharePoint farm.
  • Monitor the environment and take corrective actions to ensure that platform is operating at peak functionality and performance.
  • Responsible for the security, integrity and recoverability of data stored in the system.
  • Work with other groups to ensure that the system is fault and disaster tolerant.
  • Reduce manual work by automating repetitive tasks.
  • Install, configure and maintain multiple SharePoint farms; various service applications such as the Search Service and User Profile service and third-party components that integrate with SharePoint.
  • Maintain the servers comprising each farm.
  • Apply SharePoint Cumulative Updates (CUs) monthly.
  • Respond to issues assigned by the help desk, content administrators or business owners.
  • Monitor the ULS, IIS and event logs to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Monitor performance counter metrics to identify system bottlenecks and fine-tune application performance.
  • Assist the business owners as they test new features in the testing environment.
  • Deploy new features to the production environment.
  • Assign new work (bugs and enhancements) to the development team backlog.
  • Address questions and concerns from the business owners about SharePoint functionality.
  • Automate repetitive manual tasks using scripting technologies such as PowerShell.
  • Keep apprised of updates and make sure that they are communicated to the business owners.
  • Work with the DBA to make sure that data integrity is maintained, and that data is backed up and recoverable.
  • Work with the Infrastructure team to ensure that the system is fault and disaster tolerant.
  • Work with the Development team to understand and maintain custom functionality.
  • Work with third party vendors to resolve issues and implement new functionality.
  • Assist other administrators in the support of various other enterprise applications.
