ShipBob, Inc.
•$99,150 - $165,250•Remote

About The Position

ShipBob is seeking an SFN Network Development Manager to own the economic model and performance measurement layer for its third-party fulfillment network. The role builds and maintains cost-to-serve models, validates partner rate cards and commercial terms, and maintains a benchmarked shadow P&L for each partner. It translates partner-agreement commitments into measurable metrics and owns reporting for partners and ShipBob leadership. This is a build role requiring understanding of fulfillment operations and the ability to translate site activities into costs. The manager reports to the Senior Director, Network Development, and partners closely with SFN Operations, Pricing, Legal, Data, Product, and Engineering. The role is remote in the listed states.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in operational finance, costing and pricing, plant or site controllership, FP&A, or commercial finance in manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, or a comparable operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building economic and cost-to-serve models from first principles.
  • Working understanding of fulfillment or warehouse operations and cost drivers such as labor productivity, equipment utilization, occupancy, throughput, and mix.
  • Comfort working with cost and industrial engineers on design engineering.
  • Strong financial literacy, including building a P&L view, understanding cost structures and margin drivers, and judging whether commercial arrangements are working.
  • Fluency with data at scale; SQL is expected, and the candidate should be able to access data needed to build models without relying on others to extract it.
  • Ability to read commercial agreements and translate obligations into measurable terms.
  • Experience specifying requirements to Product and Engineering teams and seeing a build through to delivery.
  • Ability to influence and drive accountability across functions without direct authority, including with senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional rigor and accuracy in numbers shared with partners and leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining analytical conclusions to commercial audiences and commercial constraints to engineering audiences.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and building processes or capabilities that do not yet exist.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Prior exposure to contracts, service levels, or commercial terms.
  • Program or project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own site-level cost-to-serve models for SFN partner operations, including labor, equipment, occupancy, and overhead by activity.
  • Model proposed commercial terms before agreement, assessing rate-card economics for both parties at expected volumes.
  • Run scenario and sensitivity analyses and identify the assumptions underlying conclusions.
  • Model the economics and trade-offs of network decisions, including new sites, consolidations, and inventory moves.
  • Establish standard cost and variance analysis across the network and explain differences between actual and standard costs.
  • Model capital-investment payback using cost of capital, IRR, and throughput metrics, and make recommendations.
  • Validate new agreements before commercial commitments are signed, confirming that obligations are measurable and enforceable and that terms are economically viable and fair.
  • Keep contractual obligations and reporting aligned as agreements evolve, ensuring new terms have supporting instrumentation.
  • Design and own partner-facing performance reporting, including its audience, content, detail, and cadence.
  • Specify requirements for the reporting publication mechanism and work with Product and Engineering to deliver it.
  • Build network analytics, including productivity benchmarks by region and product profile, emerging risk patterns, and analysis of structural versus situational variance.
  • Build and own partner shadow P&Ls, benchmark partner productivity and costs against comparables, and quantify and flag deteriorating economics.
  • Define financial and productivity insights to share with partners and support rate reviews, cost-model validation, and negotiations with partner-level analysis.
  • Own the performance escalation framework with SFN Operations, including thresholds, owners, and touchpoint sequence, and automate escalation.
  • Provide performance and financial inputs for Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
