About The Position

Heidelberg University is seeking to hire a part-time Sexual Assault Advocate. The Sexual Assault Advocate provides trauma-informed, victim-focused services to survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking which include community awareness events, confidential advocacy, and prevention/awareness training. This role requires data entry, crisis intervention, and education for students. This is a part-time position of 15 hours per week and requires flexibility in scheduling. Evening and weekend hours may be required. This position is contingent every three (3) years due to the approval of the Department of Justice and Violence Against Women Campus Grant. This cycle will end September of 2027. Reports directly to the DOJ OVW Grant Project Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or 1-3 years of experience in related field
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide direct services to students in need
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to relate to persons of all backgrounds and cultures
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with allied professionals
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work under pressure and react rationally in crisis situations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Complete trauma-informed and victim-focused training
  • Provide quality advocacy and support to all survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking
  • Provide confidential crisis intervention and referrals to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, or stalking
  • Accompany survivors to medical exams, court hearings, or Title IX services as requested
  • Conduct survivor satisfaction survey or use other methods to assess the effectiveness of the services provided to survivors
  • Communicate regularly with the Title IX coordinator to share information about the needs of survivors specific to Heidelberg’s campus
  • Attend trainings related to sexual assault advocacy
  • Connect with campus and community partners
  • Participation in campus events such as Take Back the Night, Walk-A-Mile, or other student events
