About The Position

Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is hiring for a Sewing Machine Operator. This role involves working with commercial sewing machines to produce high-quality textile products. The operator will ensure precision, care, and efficiency in every stitch, meeting standards for quality and customer satisfaction. In addition to sewing, responsibilities include trimming threads, folding, bagging, tagging, and boxing textile goods, while keeping pace with customer demand and production goals. The role also involves maintaining and setting up sewing machines, monitoring oil levels, and reporting any safety or performance issues. Cross-training in other production areas is also part of the role, making the team member versatile. Disabled Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Requirements

Basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to communicate with supervisors.

Responsibilities

Operate commercial sewing machines to produce top-tier textile goods with precision, care, and efficiency.
Ensure every stitch meets standards for quality and customer satisfaction.
Assist with other production tasks such as trimming threads, folding, bagging, tagging, and boxing.
Keep pace with customer demand and production goals.
Maintain and set up sewing machines.
Monitor oil levels of sewing machines.
Report any safety or performance issues promptly.
Support other areas of production as needed through cross-training.
