Jefferson County is seeking a well-qualified, motivated Sewer Maintenance Superintendent to be responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational activities associated with the construction, repair, and maintenance of Jefferson County pump stations. Individuals in this job class serve as the liaison between the department and various entities (e.g., other departments and agencies, community citizens) by communicating relevant sewer-related information and maintaining positive relationships. They consult with design engineers and others regarding system improvements and repairs and participate in long-range project planning (e.g., sewer improvement projects) in order to prepare estimates of materials, time, and equipment. Sewer Maintenance Superintendents ensure regular and routine maintenance of equipment and sanitary sewer facilities through inspections and communication with the maintenance department. Employees in this job classification are also expected to procure the necessary equipment and inventory (i.e., supplies) to ensure the products and services are available to meet the operational needs of each department.
