About The Position

Performs semi-skilled custodial and janitorial duties for Water & Sewer Department facilities. Responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary work environments in offices, restrooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, and other common areas. Work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor. This position is a part-time position.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.
Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
Monday through Thursday: 5:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Friday: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and grasping.
Vocal communication is required to exchange information.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken levels.
Visual acuity is required for observing surroundings, inspecting work, operating equipment, and maintaining safety.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
May be exposed to extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, cleaning chemicals, and other conditions commonly associated with custodial and grounds maintenance activities.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening, and background investigation as a condition of employment.

Previous custodial, housekeeping, or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Cleaning offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, restrooms, and common areas.
Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing department facilities.
Emptying trash and recycling containers.
Restocking restroom and breakroom supplies.
Cleaning windows, appliances, blinds, walls, woodwork, doors, counters, and other surfaces as needed.
Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies in good working condition.
Collecting and disposing of litter from grounds, parking lots, and other exterior areas.
Raking leaves, trimming shrubs, pressure washing walkways, and clearing snow and ice from walkways during winter weather events.
Reports maintenance issues, unsafe conditions, and supply needs to the appropriate supervisor.
Assists with facility setup and cleanup for meetings and special events as assigned.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this role.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
