About The Position

Plaza Provision Company is seeking a Setting Merchandiser to join its Business Development team. The company has more than 500 employees and is a Puerto Rico food-distribution leader representing established brands. The role focuses on planning and executing product categories according to customer-approved planograms, maintaining and improving shelf displays, rotating merchandise, implementing promotional displays, and providing excellent service to internal and external customers. The position may require island-wide travel, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of merchandising practices, preferably in food categories.
Ability to interpret market or brand-line information.
Persuasion, negotiation, and effective objection-handling skills.
Excellent internal and external customer-service skills.
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
Willingness to travel throughout Puerto Rico as needed.
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
Ability to self-direct work with minimal supervision.
Ability to identify customer needs and project sales.
Personal vehicle with auto insurance and a valid Puerto Rico driver's license.
Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Positive attitude and openness to change.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and language at all times.
Mathematical and analytical skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Associate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management or Marketing, or equivalent experience of 6 months to 1 year in the food industry performing a similar function.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of product placement and rotation on shelves, preferably.
Basic knowledge of interpreting and implementing planograms.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Plan and execute product category lines according to customer-approved planograms.
Adjust specific categories as needed.
Maintain planogram compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Propose ideas or plans for merchandise displays.
Rotate merchandise regularly to prevent products from passing their sale dates and to maximize sales.
Set up, organize, and adjust products on shelves according to designated space, including maximizing points of sale.
Implement product displays for promotional programs.
Participate in training, campaign launches, and other required activities.
Keep assigned product shelf areas organized and clean.
Take photos of displays at customer locations.
Validate, update, and implement shelf price labels as needed.
Present new products distributed by Plaza Provision when needed.
Support the sales team when needed.
