About The Position

Seton Teaching Fellows is a year-long missionary teaching program that brings the Catholic Faith to children in underserved communities in America. The program is designed for current seniors, graduates, and mission-aligned students seeking a gap year. Fellows serve from July of 2026 through June of 2027, with some positions beginning in January 2026. It is a fully funded year of service that provides missionary catechesis and classroom education. Fellows live in intentional communities, participate in faith formation, and receive professional development. The program aims to make excellent, character-rich, and vibrantly Catholic education accessible to underserved children.

Requirements

  • At least two years of college experience.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • A desire to teach the fullness of the Catholic faith.
  • The ability to socially and professionally connect with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • A growth mindset rooted in optimism and collaboration.
  • Willingness and ability to work and teach in schools and classrooms with Pre-K through 8th-grade students, as well as to receive professional development and training pertaining to their professional role.
  • Core belief that all children can achieve both moral and academic excellence.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. or OPT (for international students).

Responsibilities

  • Teach catechesis classes to students at all network schools.
  • Serve in network schools across New York, Texas, and Ohio during school hours, Monday-Friday.
  • Participate in rigorous instructional coaching and professional development sessions.
  • Participate in and bring intentional community, sacramental faith life, and life-giving formation to the neighborhoods where we serve.
  • Live and participate in a communal men's or women's household, receive faith formation, and pray with others.
