About The Position

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Set-Up Technician I to support the manufacturing of products by operating and maintaining equipment and processes. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting various CNC machines, performing tool changes, and obtaining first articles without assistance. The Set-Up Technician will collaborate with other technicians and operators, and is expected to have experience equivalent to an Operator I & II with the propensity for further technical demands. The position also involves understanding and implementing compliance issues (quality, environmental, safety), participating in continuous improvement projects, and assisting with training associates. Requirements

Minimum of 1 year experience at MT or prior relative job experience.
High School or GED diploma required.
Above basic math skills and reasoning ability.
Leadership, quality communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills required.
Fork truck certification, overhead crane, CNC programming, understanding of PLC programming.
Established ability to identify and communicate issues and offer proposed solutions.
Excellent attention to detail is required.
Ability to manage interruptions in a professional and respectful manner is essential.
Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
Able to interpret technical data, including drawings and schematics, accurately.
Must be proficient in the use of common inspection and test equipment.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required.
Two (2) years of previous experience, and/or equivalent training and experience required.
Technical Certification in a Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or related program or equivalent combination of education and experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical field.

Responsibilities

Support the manufacturing of product by operating and maintaining equipment and processes.
Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, robotics, and sensors.
Perform independent operation of various CNC machines.
Maintain machine operations.
Perform independent tool changes and set-up without assistance.
Cycle through proven and unproven programs to obtain first article without assistance on multiple machine types.
Collaborate with other technicians and operators as necessary.
Be cross-trained on all equipment in the area of support.
Know and implement all area-specific compliance issues, including quality, environmental, safety, and Milwaukee Tool/West Bend policies.
Contribute to team efforts by participating in continuous improvement projects as required.
Assist with training associates as necessary.
Enhance the department’s productivity and quality.
Assist Supervisor or Team Lead as required.
Follow all safety policies and proactively identify potential safety issues.
Practice 6S standards to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Review programs on numerical and PLC equipment and adjust offsets, as required.
Communicate with Supervisor, Team Lead, and Maintenance Techs about required ladder logic and PLC troubleshooting.
Perform preventative maintenance responsibilities and participate in updates of preventative maintenance schedules.
Complete routine equipment inspections and required documentation.
Investigate and efficiently assist with diagnosis and resolution of equipment and quality issues, production delays, or stoppages.
Participate in performing root cause analysis and assist with implementing the best solution.
Troubleshoot and assist in minor equipment repairs.
Provide feedback to Maintenance and Supervisor/Team Lead as needed.
Learn and complete corrective actions as directed.
Inform Supervisor/Team Lead or Department Manager about processes or equipment requiring attention.
Recommend and participate in completion of continuous improvement projects specifically designed to improve processes, productivity, and quality, especially those related to corrective actions.
Monitor the cycles of equipment to verify process is running efficiently and within designated tolerances.
Escalate or assist as needed.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor, including supporting other shifts if necessary.
