About The Position

The 1st Shift Set Up Technician is responsible for programming and operating horizontal Makino CNC machines. This role involves installing and aligning tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to blueprints and setup sheets. The technician will troubleshoot machine setup or machining issues to maintain quality and efficiency, monitor machine performance, and make necessary adjustments during production. Key duties also include reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions, as well as creating work instructions for new programs. Maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards is also essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience as a CNC set-up operator required
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools (dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.) required
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Ability to perform basic computer & e-mail functions
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficient math skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to schedules
  • Ability to read a dial indicator, dial caliper & a micrometer
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as an angle grinder for edge deburring
  • Ability to work safely and keep area clean
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely and achieve intended objectives
  • Ability to work assigned shift and remain awake and alert during assigned shift is required
  • Reporting to work for assigned shift, maintaining a physical presence and performing assigned work for the duration of assigned shift is required
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all weather conditions
