About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and skilled 4/5 Axis CNC Set-Up Technician to join our precision manufacturing team. Reporting to the Supervisor and Production Manager, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with the production schedule while contributing to cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This is a technically demanding role for a machinist who takes ownership of their setups and holds themselves to a high standard of workmanship.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of related CNC machining and setup experience
  • Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tooling used in precision machining processes
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Yasnac, and/or Esprit controls
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to close tolerances
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet production deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands without compromising quality
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment safely

Nice To Haves

  • Degree, diploma, or certification in a manufacturing-related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Tooling and fixturing knowledge is a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines using proper tooling and the most efficient techniques
  • Adjust and modify fixturing as needed to ensure accurate setups and conforming parts
  • Prove out programs and make necessary adjustments to tools, offsets, speeds, and feeds
  • Perform first-article inspection and confirm all dimensions are within tolerance before releasing to production
  • Keep production moving by deburring and preparing parts for loading into vises or fixtures
  • Plan ahead for upcoming jobs — prepare fixtures and tooling, and flag requirements for special tools or new fixtures in advance
  • Use machine cycle time efficiently: check parts, deburr, clean tools, holders, and machine from previous setups
  • Operate CMM equipment to verify dimensions of parts being unloaded from machining centers
  • Use all available measuring tools proficiently (micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.)
  • Prepare loading instructions and tool sheets, and train operators on the machine prior to signing a job into production
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies and practice safe work habits at all times
  • Protect self and co-workers by consistently using required personal protective equipment
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned to support operational needs
