About The Position

This course, HIS262H5S - What is Canada?, offers a broad survey of Canadian history from its origins to the present. It focuses on evolving conceptions of the country, its territory, and its peoples. The course will critically examine common beliefs about Canada, both historical and contemporary, through in-depth analysis of primary sources and historiography. The estimated course enrollment is 75 students, with an estimated TA support of 150.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in History strongly preferred
• Demonstrated effectiveness as an instructor
• If Ph.D. is in a related field, strong academic preparation in historical research methods, as demonstrated by graduate coursework completed and publications in historical journals

Responsibilities

• Preparation and delivery of course content
• Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams
• Dealing with student inquiries
• Calculation and submission of grades
• Holding regular office hours
• Supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course
