This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and controlling the configuration of hydraulically-powered friction stir welding and friction pull plug welding machines. The technician will develop an in-depth understanding of the equipment, determine the root cause of failures, accomplish repairs, and identify intermediate solutions when permanent repairs can't be immediately accomplished. Documentation of problems, investigative techniques, corrective actions, and repair results is required, along with communication to co-workers, company, and customer personnel. The role also involves developing lists of spare parts, arranging for their procurement, and obtaining replacement parts when used. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for training other personnel to operate these machines and for planning and executing projects on these machines.
