About The Position

Servo Engineering’s primary mission is to provide robust ultra-precision position control technologies to enable aggressive advancement in high performance HDD areal density growth. The team also serves a critical HDD Systems role, working closely with and enabling other functions in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Recording Technology, Tribology, Customer Interface, Manufacturing, and Reliability. In this role you will be part of the Servo Electronics Group and will provide high level design and architecture assistance to enable Seagate’s future roadmap. You will solve challenging multidisciplinary technical problems and lead extendibility initiatives in Embedded System design to ensure a sustainable roadmap for HDD Areal Density & Performance growth. Focus on enabling the servo code and electronics architecture to enable next generation features. In particular, you will develop real-time embedded firmware for deployment of new electronics, realization of HDD systems, and other servo related concepts. You will identify code and hardware that pose technical problems and engineering bottlenecks in product development, and develop and implement HDD solutions addressing the design problems. You will participate in other areas of Servo Product Development, Technology Development Projects, Feature development, and ongoing support of Product yields, Reliability Testing, Customer issue resolution, and other opportunities within the Servo team. You will perform design validation and verification. You will participate in cutting edge technology development in HDD Multi-actuator/Parallelism initiatives and work in an open-minded environment which supports and fosters Innovation. The role supports solutions deployment in Factory for successful product development on a high-volume manufacturing scale.

Requirements

Knowledge and skills on Embedded Systems Development in C for Embedded systems and real time computing.
High level of comfort with Embedded software development and MATLAB.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Computer Engineering) and 8+ years of experience or master’s degree in the same and 6+ years’ experience or PhD and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education.

Nice To Haves

MATLAB + Simulink, Python, RISC-V experience
Data collection (Scopes, Lab Equipment)
Signal Processing, Control systems, or another related implementation

Responsibilities
