About The Position

This is a casual position for a Services Officer (Maintenance) with Coxswain grade 1 near coast qualifications. The role involves working across two island destinations, Milson Island Sport and Recreation Centre and Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre. The position is ideal for candidates with hands-on maintenance skills who enjoy variety in their day-to-day work, including minor repairs and maintenance to Centre facilities, vessel operations, and providing logistical support for water access-only locations. These casual positions are established to provide coverage during staff leave and to support increased operational demands during peak booking periods. The role is part of a collaborative team, ensuring facilities, grounds, equipment, and vessels are maintained to a high standard for a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable guest experience. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance and repairs, transporting supplies, and supporting vessel operations.

Requirements

• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate and relevant maritime experience.
• Experience in both planned and reactive maintenance across facilities, grounds, buildings, plant and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining high standards of presentation.
• Flexibility to adapt to the varied demands of working in a water access-only location.
• Physical capability to undertake manual tasks.
• Must obtain and maintain a Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance.
• Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Satisfactory completion of a hearing test (audiometric test) within 3 months of starting employment and a follow-up hearing test at least every 2 years.
• Successful completion of a National Criminal History Record Check.
• Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid Australian working visa for the duration of the appointment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs to Centre facilities, grounds, buildings, plant and equipment.
• Operating vessels and providing logistical support for water access-only locations.
• Transporting supplies, equipment, and customer luggage.
• Maintaining facilities, grounds, equipment, and vessels to a high standard.
