About The Position

Under general supervision, performs the general care, routine cleaning, and maintains the appearance of MARTA’s designated areas, as assigned. Periodically removes interior and exterior graffiti. Makes pick up of needed materials from the storerooms and delivers cleaning supplies to various locations. The Serviceperson I position consists of three specific functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bus Maintenance Cleaner (Summary): Under general supervision, cleans and maintains the appearance of the MARTA buses by performing general and heavy detail cleaning. Periodically removes interior and exterior graffiti. Performs the general care and routine cleaning of the bus shops, restrooms, office buildings and surrounding area. Makes pick up of needed materials from the storeroom. Provides light cleaning of bus interior on a daily basis; performing such tasks as removal of debris and litter, cleaning windows, seats, seat backs, side walls, ceiling and mopping of floors. Provides routine heavy cleaning of bus interior by performing such tasks as stripping and sealing floors, and cleaning heater grills and return vents. Maintains the cleanliness of the back of the bus tailgate. Completely restores areas damaged by vandalism and graffiti. Provides general cleaning of the shops, offices, restroom areas that include trashing, sweeping floors, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Two years of commercial cleaning experience is required preferred.
Must be able to read, write and follow instructions.
Performs highly repetitive tasks (such as window cleaning) with multiple forceful motions (squeezing spray bottle trigger) and wiping are required.
Frequently climbs ladders and stairs.
Uses chemical cleaners and solutions.
Performs duties outside in all elements of the weather conditions.

Two years of commercial cleaning is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides general cleaning of the shops, offices, restroom areas that include trashing, sweeping floors, etc.
Trimming trees and shrubbery obstructing patrons or bus operators view.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
