The Service Welder II - Heavy Equipment is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role requires wearing proper personal protective equipment, attending and completing required technician training, and maintaining a high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry. The welder must maintain a minimum set of tools for job performance, capable of disassembling and assembling machine components to manufacturer’s specifications. They must be able to interpret structural drawings and perform layout and assembly functions from these drawings with minimal supervision. The position involves preparing parts or materials for welding and performing the appropriate welding for needed repairs as per experience or specified procedure. The role requires working in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways to improve methods, work area, and safety standards. Additionally, the welder assists with maintaining proper facility appearance and shop conditions by following contamination control guidelines, including housekeeping, and performing general maintenance duties. Completing required documentation using appropriate software to document repairs and account for repair times is essential. The welder must monitor job expenses versus repair estimates and inform the supervisor of any cost overruns prior to job completion. Approaching work in a positive manner and maintaining conduct supportive of the team is expected. The role contributes to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations, and may involve training and mentoring others. Performs other duties as assigned.
