SERVICE TECHNOLOGY & DATA MANAGER

HOH Water Technology•Palatine, IL
•$100,000 - $130,000•Hybrid

About The Position

HOH Water Technology is seeking a Service Technology & Data Manager to own the technical execution layer of their service technology and data ecosystem. This role involves hands-on software and systems engineering, platform ownership, vendor management, and field enablement. The position reports to the Product & Technical Operations Manager and is responsible for turning the ideas of Product Managers and the Technical Solutions Manager into working, adopted technology. This includes owning the platform of record for field testing and customer-facing service reporting, building digital and data infrastructure, architecting solutions, and ensuring technology adoption and value delivery in the field. The role requires the ability to assess technical feasibility for AI-enabled data strategies, develop adoption plans, and maintain hands-on command of the company's digital and data architecture. Occasional reporting to the Palatine, Illinois office is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on ability to do light programming and integration work personally, not just direct others to do it, with enough platform architecture knowledge to know what's actually feasible.
  • Experience scoping technical work accurately, selecting the right outside vendor or developer, and managing engagements from statement of work through delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a domain idea — expressed in non-technical terms — and turn it into a buildable requirement without needing it handed over fully specified.
  • Systems thinking: experience seeing how disconnected data sources fit together architecturally and building toward one coherent system rather than one-off point solutions.
  • A track record of planning for training, rollout, and adoption as part of a technical deliverable, not an afterthought.
  • Enough water treatment or related industrial-services domain familiarity to sanity-check which data and features matter to service outcomes, or demonstrated ability to build this knowledge quickly.
  • Proficiency with the ERP, CRM, IoT, and reporting platforms relevant to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Own the platform of record for field testing and customer-facing service reporting, keeping it reliable, current, and fit for how HOH delivers service.
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop and maintain the standard for how service reports are structured, then hold the organization accountable to it.
  • Lead platform-to-platform transitions end-to-end, including customer data migration, historical reporting continuity, and testing.
  • Bring together field controller, water analysis, financial, and IoT data into one coherent, connected view.
  • Assess technical feasibility for AI-enabled data strategy — such as predictive service signals and automated insights — and own the build and integration work.
  • Develop and drive adoption plans for the service platform and related tools, serving as the field's go-to technical resource.
  • Maintain hands-on command of HOH's digital and data architecture, doing light programming and integration work personally.
  • Select the right outside vendor or developer for a given job and manage that engagement from scope through delivery.
  • Own the platform of record for field testing and customer-facing service reporting, ensuring it remains reliable, current, and fit for how HOH delivers service.
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop and maintain the standard for how service reports are structured, teaching them what the platform can do, then hold the organization accountable to it once set.
  • Maintain expert-level command of the platform's full feature set, and drive the vendor relationship to expand, fix, or prioritize what HOH actually needs.
  • Lead platform-to-platform transitions end-to-end: customer data migration, historical reporting continuity, and testing — so transitions happen without disrupting the field or losing data integrity.
  • Partner with Product Managers and the Technical Solutions Manager to define how field controller data is captured, trended, and put to use — turning their domain expertise into a real data pipeline.
  • Bring together adjacent data sources — water analysis, financial/margin data, remote IoT data — into one coherent, connected view rather than siloed systems.
  • Assess technical feasibility for AI-enabled data strategy that Product Managers and the Technical Solutions Manager identify as valuable, and own the build and integration work once direction is set.
  • Develop and drive active implementation and adoption plans for the service platform and related tools — treating “built” and “adopted” as two different jobs.
  • Serve as the field's go-to technical resource for platform use, data interpretation, and reporting standards, resolving issues that would otherwise stall adoption.
  • Build training and reference materials that reduce reliance on tribal knowledge, so consistency doesn't depend on any one person's memory.
  • Maintain working command of HOH's digital and data architecture, with the hands-on ability to do light programming and integration work personally.
  • Determine when a technical effort requires outside help, select the right vendor or developer, and manage that engagement from scope through completion and delivery.
  • Apply disciplined software development and project management practices to platform and integration work, so technical projects are predictable rather than ad hoc.
  • Connect platform and data decisions to business strategy and value creation, for external customers and internal teams alike.
  • Report on platform adoption, data utilization, and business impact to the Manager, Product & Technical Operations and broader leadership.
  • Apply water treatment industry context to sharpen judgment on which data and features actually matter to service outcomes, in partnership with Product Managers and the Technical Solutions Manager.
