About The Position

The largest dealership in Grand Rapids and a 13-time Dealer of the Year award winner is looking for an additional Service Technician to join our team. In our state-of-the-art service center, technicians enjoy climate-controlled bays, specialty GM equipment, dedicated support staff, and the latest technology to keep you working efficiently. This position is onsite Monday – Friday (8am to 5pm) and a Saturday rotation (8am to 1pm).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be state certified.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, organized, efficient, and takes pride in their workmanship.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate an automobile in all weather conditions with a valid driver’s license.
  • Must allow pre-employment screenings, background, driving, and drug test.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation and comply with workplace health procedures as directed by the public health department.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer ASE/GM certification(s).
  • Prefer prior mechanical automotive repair experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-point inspections to GM specifications using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Perform road tests on automotive vehicles to assess vehicle performance and identify problems.
  • Effectively communicate with Service Advisors to explain vehicle issues, repair options, and associated costs.
  • Repair and replace automotive parts and systems, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and exhaust systems, in a productive manner.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications when repairing customer and warranty vehicles.
  • Maintain detailed records of all repairs, services, and parts used, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GM regulations.
  • Maintain/calibrate tools and equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Assist co-workers with complex repair tasks when necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date on training and certification programs to enhance automotive knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to provide customers with a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Adhere to shop safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned through continued employment.
