About The Position

Colonial Chevrolet of Acton is looking for an experienced, dependable, and highly skilled Automotive Service Technician to join our busy service department. We are seeking a motivated technician who takes pride in performing high-quality work, can accurately diagnose and repair vehicles, and works well in a team-oriented dealership environment. Requirements

  • Previous professional automotive technician experience required
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
  • Experience diagnosing electrical and drivability concerns
  • Ability to use scan tools and computerized diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read and understand technical service information and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to perform repairs accurately while meeting productivity expectations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Professional attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must own or have access to the tools required for the position
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the job
  • Ability to pass any required pre-employment screening

Nice To Haves

  • General Motors or Chevrolet dealership experience preferred
  • GM training and certifications preferred
  • ASE certifications preferred
  • State inspection license preferred, if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle systems accurately and efficiently
  • Perform maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer specifications
  • Diagnose engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, HVAC, and drivability concerns
  • Use computerized diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and technical service information
  • Perform manufacturer warranty, recall, and campaign repairs
  • Complete engine, transmission, and other major mechanical repairs when qualified
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and multi-point vehicle inspections
  • Identify necessary repairs and safety concerns during inspections
  • Document all diagnostic findings, repairs, and recommendations clearly
  • Communicate repair needs and parts requirements to service advisors
  • Verify customer concerns and confirm that repairs have corrected the reported problem
  • Road-test vehicles before or after repairs when necessary
  • Maintain accurate time, labor, and repair-order records
  • Complete assigned repairs within established time and quality standards
  • Follow all General Motors and dealership repair procedures
  • Stay current with manufacturer training, service bulletins, and new technology
  • Properly use and maintain dealership tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all dealership, OSHA, environmental, and safety procedures
  • Work cooperatively with service advisors, parts employees, and other technicians
  • Assist and mentor less-experienced technicians when requested
  • Protect customer vehicles by using appropriate interior and exterior coverings
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Service Manager or Shop Foreman
