About The Position

Keystone Precision Solutions is looking for a Service Technician at its Crofton, MD location to inspect, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair the surveying and geospatial equipment that engineers, surveyors, and construction professionals depend on every day. This is precision technology (think GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, laser scanners) and the work requires someone who's equal parts technically sharp, detail-oriented, and good with people.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on technical experience in electronics, mechanical repair, precision instruments, or a related field
  • Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electronic, and software systems
  • Comfort with computers: installing software, updating firmware, configuring devices, and troubleshooting connectivity
  • Customer-facing communication skills. You'll be explaining technical issues to people with varying levels of technical background, so the ability to translate complex information into plain language matters.
  • Self-sufficiency and dependability. The Crofton office operates with a small crew, and the sales team and customers across the region count on you showing up and getting it done.
  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for detailed work with precision instruments (tweezers, delicate tool work, pinching, pressing, rotating)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with surveying equipment, geospatial technology, or brands like Trimble, Spectra Geospatial, or Nikon is a real advantage, but KPS will train the right person with strong fundamentals
  • Technical, vocational, or associate degree in a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, configure, maintain, and repair professional surveying and geospatial equipment, including GNSS receivers, robotic and conventional total stations, data collectors, field controllers, levels, laser scanners, and related accessories
  • Diagnose hardware, firmware, connectivity, communication, configuration, and field-performance issues across a range of precision instruments
  • Perform equipment testing, calibration verification, firmware updates, configuration, and quality-control procedures
  • Greet showroom customers, assess drop-off equipment, and communicate repair timelines and status updates
  • Assist customers with technical questions, equipment setup, connectivity, and general surveying workflows
  • Collaborate with KPS Sales, Support, Rental, and Service teams to evaluate, prepare, and support equipment throughout its lifecycle
  • Maintain detailed records of service activities, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and calibration documentation
  • Provide secondary support to inside sales when needed

Benefits

  • Quarterly bonuses reward your performance
  • medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) program
  • Paid time off for vacations, personal days, and community service days
