About The Position

The responsibilities of a Service Technician at Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles. A State of Michigan Repair License is required by law. Any ASE Certifications are a bonus and highly regarded! No General Motors experience is required but is a benefit. A new $30 million dealership is being built on North Telegraph (M24), breaking ground in August of 2026. The Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet Service Department has not run out of carry over work for over 2 years. Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet is a truly family-owned dealership, now in its 3rd generation of ownership. They are invested in the community and the service the dealership provides. They have committed to building a new $30 million dollar dealership with upgrades expected to the Buick/GMC Store on M59. They are known for positive accolades in Southeast Michigan.

Requirements

• State of Michigan Repair License
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience as an auto technician
• Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
• Fast, eager learner and team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Computer skills and willingness to learn new problems
• Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Clean driving record & valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
• Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed.
• Provide estimates of time needed for additional repairs.
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
