The Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair orders efficiently and in accordance with dealership standards. This includes executing warranty repairs to manufacturer specifications, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing various vehicle automotive systems such as engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air-conditioning. The role involves conducting multi-point inspections, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and utilizing tools like AutoPoint and MPI to keep repair orders updated and generate recommendations. A key aspect is ensuring repairs are done correctly the first time, performing quality checks, and properly handling parts for warranty or customer requests. The technician must effectively explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs to service advisors and customers in a non-technical manner, providing time estimates. Other duties include test-driving vehicles, clocking on/off repair orders, continuous learning through training sessions, participating in manufacturer-sponsored programs, staying informed on company regulations, recalls, updates, and bulletins, reporting machinery malfunctions, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, inputting recommendations and check sheets in MPI, finding parts pricing/availability, and ensuring a clean and safe working area.
