Service Technician-Pipeline (BlueFin)
About The Position
The Service Technician I performs assigned tasks under the direction of the Lead Service Technician, Service Supervisor, Project Manager, and/or other management. Work may include assisting with hydrostatic testing; pipeline pigging, including dewatering and drying; pump operating; chemicals; overboard water filtration; and nitrogen pumping or purging. The technician works under close supervision with minimal latitude for independent judgment and is expected to support work completion in accordance with BlueFin quality and safety standards while acting accountably, respectfully, and professionally. BlueFin is an independent service company serving upstream and midstream oil and gas clients, based in Lafayette, Louisiana. The role involves both land and offshore jobs, travel throughout the United States and Gulf of Mexico, and overnight stays for extended periods.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with basic hand and power tools.
- Reliable means of transportation to and from the BlueFin office.
- Ability to work in harsh environmental conditions.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform field services as directed and in accordance with work plans, procedures, and standard operating procedures; distinguish the work at hand from the plan or procedure and determine how to proceed.
- Service, maintain, repair, and test equipment and tools before and after jobs or as instructed in the shop.
- Load and unload equipment when required.
- Learn the equipment used in the field and identify issues on the job.
- Communicate effectively with office and field coworkers, including through written and verbal communication.
- Participate in writing Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEAs) for assigned job tasks.
- Increase knowledge and participate in training on other product lines and services.
- Participate in and comply with BlueFin’s HSE and Quality Management System.
- Work on both land and offshore jobs.
- Be available for 24-hour call except during scheduled PTO.
- Travel throughout the United States and Gulf of Mexico, including extended overnight stays.
